St. Ignatius of Loyola Parent/Guardian Communication Plan for September 2021

St. Ignatius of Loyola Parent/Guardian Communication Plan for September 2021

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to in person learning. We have missed you! This pandemic has been a learning process for all of us.  It is necessary to make changes to our regular routines to accommodate for social distancing. We plan to follow the plan below, but may have to reassess and make changes as necessary. We thank everyone for their patience and support through these challenging times.

Some important updates about the first week of school are below. Please make sure to read this communication in detail and share relevant information with your child(ren).

If you have not already;

Please read the WCDSB Return to School Plan Reopening Guidelines - Student and Parent Guide

Class Lists

Class Lists will be posted the afternoon of Friday, September 3rd on our school website. https://stignatius.wellingtoncdsb.ca

Class Lists are posted by grade and OEN number.   You can find the OEN number on your child’s report card.  (Please see image below.)   We are not able to release OEN numbers to families over the phone.   If you are unable to locate your child’s number, there will be staff available to assist you on the first day of school.

As previously communicated, much time, thought and consideration has been put into the placement of students in classes.  Changes to classes cause many ripple effects and our attention needs to remain on the safety of all students.  For these reasons, we will not be able to accommodate requests for class changes.

Please use the screening tool linked here to screen your son or daughter prior to coming to school each day.

Visitors, Volunteers and Parent Access

Parents and Guardians will not be permitted in the school.

If you need to speak to school staff, please call the main office

Lunch dropoff for students will not be permitted.

All parents are asked to wear masks and adhere to social distancing on school property at all times.

Morning Drop Off

On the first day of school, Tuesday September 7th, students will be dropped off at the gate to the playground. Families are asked to say their goodbyes at the fence.

They will be directed to their child’s teacher and will line up in a socially distanced line.

Teachers will then bring the students into the school through their dedicated entrance.

On September 8th and beyond, when students arrive at school they will enter the school immediately through their dedicated door (there will be staff to direct or lead students through this process) and sanitize their hands.

Students are permitted in the school any time after 8:25am and will go directly to their classroom.

Students are not to play in the yard at any time before the morning bell. This is to ensure social distancing will be adhered to.

Parking Lot

As we did last year, we request that the parking lot be reserved for the families of our youngest students in FDK.  For all other students being driven to school, it will be very important to park on adjacent streets and walk to the school from there. We are asking for everyone’s assistance in this regard to make our parking lot as safe as possible. See map below for alternate parking locations.

There will be a “no sharing” policy.

Students will all go out for recess at the same time.

The school yard will be divided into zones to support the physical distancing of divisions. Please review this with your child(ren).
